Shallow question regarding Obama VP.

Do any of you think the last name paired with Obama counts for anything in the choosing?

As an example, picture these on signs or on bumper stickers:

Obama/Bayh

Obama/Kaine

Obama/Clark.

The third one clearly looks the strongest. It sounds the strongest. It is the strongest.

One thing about Obama/Bayh is that it reads like two very foreign guys. The dumbasses that elected GWB twice don't like this. There's not many people who will get "Bye" out of "Bayh" unless they've heard someone else say it.

Kaine doesn't look or sound good when paired with Obama either. The guy also looks like Liev Schreiber , who isn't the nicest guy in a lot of his roles.

I had the same thought, specifically about the anti-christ thing and "Obama/Kaine".

Oh, and what else? Oh yeah, Obama/Webb sounds kind of sinister. And Obama/Nunn is too easily punned. But those two are thoughts I had last month - they're kind of outdated now.

If you hold a cat by the tail you learn things you cannot learn any other way.

Well, you could say Obama/Kaine was OK!

However Obama/Warner is OW :-(

Obama/Bayh invites childish Repub humor--
Obama/Bayh-Sexual agenda is for gay marriage & such

Obama/Clark or Obama/Clinton sounds fine to me!

Obama's camp allegedly tested Kaine and Warner in a focus group in very important Shenandoah Valley region in Virginia. Kaine didn't go over too well; Warner did well.

Could Obama still be trying to get Warner to flip? For those of us in the Warner fan club, let's hope the third time is the charm.

It's funny you brought this up because anytime I mention possible VP candidates to my mom she immediately goes "Obama/(insert name here)" to see how it sounds. I think more people do this than realized haha

It would be a big mistake for Obama to select Biden, Bayh, or Kaine simply because the media seems to be favoring one of those three. This morning, American Morning on CNN ran a segment that almost gave the impression that those three were the only ones to choose from. Personally, I like the looks of an Obama/Clinton or an Obama/Clark ticket. But, CNN didn't mention them at all.

The obvious solution is to have one team pick the best vice-presidential candidate, and another team pick the best name for a vice-presidential candidate. (The second team will also have a focus group of fourth graders who will make sure that the name can't be twisted into anything insulting.) At the end of the process, the selected vice president will have his/her name legally changed.

Sen. Obama can change his name while we're at it.

In light of the Sen. Obama's recent "Antichrist" problems, I'm wondering if we could repair the damage by giving them the names of the heroes of the "Left Behind" books, Ray Steele and Buck Williams. Those are good forceful-sounding names.

I've thought about how the bumper stickers would look. It sounds trivial but maybe isn't. I think Obama/Sebelius sounds especially bad. Two weird names on a bumper sticker.

I heard some guys on a funny Saturday morning NPR show making fun of Obama/Dodd. They were singing the Muppets song Badda badda Doo Doo do do do, badda badda Do Do Do Do (eeks, not very good), but using Obama Dodd doo doo do do do, Obama Dodd etc, etc. It was funny. So Dodd is out. LOL

For marketing purposes, names are important, but even moreso are looks, even though the press doesn't talk about it.
